CJD At Hotel Utah

Cheryl Lowder (@calowder) and her hubby Doug, celebrated their wedding anniversary with Christopher last December!!

Now.. Cheryl has admitted being really late with this blog contribution. Because she still has her fangirl-perv/squee training wheels on, do feel free to tweet her a spank. Or throw her tons of sticky glitter. ;)

Here's her write-up of that night's events!

------------------

Just before Christmas, on December 19, 2010, Christopher Dallman came back to San Francisco to give a wonderful performance at the the Hotel Utah. The weather had been very wet but it stopped raining just in time for us to drive over the bridge for the chance to enjoy Christopher and his music live once again.

The Hotel Utah Bar in San Francisco is a wonderful venue with a long and colorful history. It was built in 1908 (shortly after the great San Francisco earthquake). The bar was home to gamblers, thieves, ladies up to no good, politicians, hustlers, and many others.

In 1977, Paul Gaer, who co-wrote the story for the 1979 film "The Electric Horseman," bought the bar. He renamed it The Utah and built a stage to support local music, experimental art, writers, comedy, and theater. A perfect venue for live music.

On December 19, this stage was host to Christopher, who appeared along with local singers Keeley Valentino and Amy MacClain (aka "The Utah Girl"). Dallman performed several of his wonderful compositions, including "Subterranean", "Ghosts", and "Over My Head".

He dedicated a song to us since my husband and I were celebrating an anniversary and we appreciated this very much!

The stage architecture and powerful sound system at the Utah was perfect for bringing out all the subtleties of Christopher' guitar playing, and the voice and instrumentals were really nicely balanced. He connected immediately with the audience once he started performing. There is a reason he is known for his great stage presence. Christopher sounded wonderful and was obviously enjoying his performance.

The stage lights were red which added to the dramatic atmosphere. He finished with his wonderful cover of Britney Spears' "Baby, One More Time", and brought the house down one more time!!

Keeley came on after Christopher and sounded great. She has a wonderful quality to her voice and sings with such great emotion and depth. It was a pleasure to get to hear her again. She has numerous fans in the Bay Area, many of whom came that night. She recently moved back to this area and has made it her home. Please check out her website.

We actually had the opportunity to talk to Christopher for a while before and after the performance, which was a treat. He has many fans here who were delighted to see him, He was, as always, incredibly gracious to everyone who came that evening. A great evening was had by all.

Looking forward to the new videos in early 2011. Wishing continued success to Christopher in this New Year!! San Franciscans, and the Lowders in particular, can't wait for you to come back!!
